Ox Barn
Thyme, Southrop Manor Estate, Nr Lechlade, Gloucestershire. GL7 3NX
Located on Thyme's fabled 150 acre estate of restored buildings, grounds, water meadows, kitchen gardens and farmland in a nook of the River Leach near Lechlade, the Ox Barn is a striking restaurant housed in a meticulously restored, herringbone-ceilinged barn, built in 1843 for the oxen that worked on the estate’s land.
With a deep-rooted passion for the same land, Chef Director – Charlie Hibbert works alongside his kitchen team and Thyme’s gardeners to grow and harvest much of the produce that is served on the Ox Barn’s rigorously seasonal menus.
Thyme’s fruit and vegetables, expertly cooked with an array of sustainable fish, grass-fed meat, British cheese and other local produce make up this universally appealing menu. Coupled with the bijou Baa Bar, a fireside area for drinks before or after dinner and a south facing terrace for alfresco dining in the summer, the Ox Barn is an enchanting and delicious place to visit for lunch or dinner.
